Biography

Emilia Paolino is a Lecturer in the Leadership, Human Resources and Digital Technologies Knowledge Area at SDA Bocconi School of Management, where she has been collaborating since 2011.

She is Director of the Executive Program in Team Leadership. She is also Program Coordinator of SDA Bocconi’s Global Executive MBA (GEMBA), delivered in partnership with the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. She has directed and delivered several national and international research and training projects in the banking and finance, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and food sectors.

Her research and teaching activities focus on four main areas: 1) leveraging differences within work teams, both under pressure and in normal conditions; 2) developing authentic self-branding that is consistent with individual development; 3) managing change and emotions at both the individual and team level; and 4) diversity management, with a specific focus on inclusion and the integration of gender and age differences.

Her work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Innovation & Knowledge, Harvard Business Review Italia, and Economia & Management, as well as in volumes published by Egea. She has also authored teaching cases published internationally by The Case Centre.

Emilia graduated from IULM University with a degree in Public Relations and earned an MSc in Training and Development of Human Resources from the University of Milano-Bicocca. She holds a PhD in Higher Education from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, graduating summa cum laude. She is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and qualified to administer Hogan Assessments. She has also attended professional development courses at Harvard Business School on participant-centered learning, deepening her understanding of teaching approaches that place the participant’s experience at the center of the learning process.
