Sustainability
Generating sustainable value
At SDA Bocconi, sustainability takes shape through concrete choices: in responsible campus design, multidisciplinary research, impact-oriented teaching, and programs that train responsible leaders. Four directions, one goal: to generate sustainable value for people, organizations and the planet.
Our campuses embody a concrete vision of sustainability.
The one in Milano, designed according to Near Zero Energy principles, is at the heart of our commitment to a low-emission future. The Campus is partially powered by renewable energy generated on-site through a photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of approximately 1,1 MW. The remaining electricity demand is met entirely through energy purchased from renewable sources certified by Guarantees of Origin. This approach represents a concrete example of the energy transition.
Moreover, the Milan Campus has achieved LEED Platinum certification, one of the most prestigious international recognitions for sustainable architecture and, in 2025, it ranked first in the Financial Times' Carbon Footprint Rank, a special category within the FT's Global MBA Ranking that assesses the environmental footprint and Co2 emission reduction targets of the Campus where the program is delivered (Business school rankings from the Financial Times - FT.co).
The Villa Morgagni campus in Roma also reflects this commitment: a space designed to foster connections, dialogue and growth, while respecting the historical context and looking toward the future.

Research in sustainability
Research is a fundamental pillar of our business, also when it comes to sustainability. Through laboratories, monitors and specialized centers such as the Sustainability Lab, we develop scientific knowledge useful in addressing the most pressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Our projects integrate quantitative and qualitative methodologies to support businesses, institutions and nonprofit organizations on their path to more sustainable models. Academic contributions, collaborations and shared research platforms strengthen the link between theory and practice, generating impact and expertise in line with the goals of Agenda 2030.

Teaching sustainability
Teaching sustainability means training leaders who are aware of their impact. The SDA Bocconi faculty integrates sustainability in content, methods and teaching tools, offering an approach that combines theoretical rigor and concrete application. Interactive lectures, field projects, case studies, and testimonials allow environmental, social, and governance issues to be addressed from a multidisciplinary and international perspective. Thus we prepare people capable of driving change and generating sustainable value in every sector.
